Filters and Filtration

Rain Bird filters keep irrigation systems free of the contaminants that degrade performance and efficiency. Whether the system utilizes rotors, sprays or drip devices, there is a Rain Bird filtration product designed for the application.

Sand Media Filter

Proper filtration and clean water are essential to the efficient operation of today’s irrigation systems. Trash, algae, sand, silt and other solid contaminants in source water will lead to plugged nozzles, silt deposition in equipment and on the turf, inoperative valves, and a significant reduction in overall efficiency. Rain Bird filtration technology can resolve these problems in your system. Rain Bird’s Sand Media Filters provide reliability, efficiency and long-term economy. Made in the USA, these filters are designed and manufactured to exacting standards, giving you many years of top performance.

Disk Filters

A Rain Bird disk filter is a type of irrigation filter, similar to a screen filter, except that the filter cartridge is made up of a number of disks stacked on top of each other like a pile of poker chips. The filtration element consists of grooved discs, mounted on a spine, forming a cylindrical filter element. The water passes through the small grooves in between the disks which are compressed together by a spring located at the bottom of the filter cover and the impurities are trapped behind. Disk filters can be back flushed in such a way that the disks are able to separate and spin during the cleaning cycle.

Centrifugal Sand Separators

Pumping water from wells or other sources with excessive amounts of sand, silt, or other abrasive grit particles can lead to the premature degradation of irrigation system components. These contaminants can reduce the efficiency of the irrigation system equipment by plugging and clogging sprinklers, drip emitters, valves, and spray nozzles. Repairing these components costs time and money in replacement parts, downtime and productivity. Rain Bird Centrifugal Sand Separators are designed to separate abrasive particles before they can enter the irrigation system, keeping equipment clean and clear of debris, which minimizes the amount of maintenance required and increases operational efficiency. These filters are designed and manufactured in the USA to exacting standards, providing many years of optimal performance. Rain Bird centrifugal separators are designed for easy installation, minimal maintenance, and reliable operation. The separator removes sand and particles that are heavier than water (materials with a specific gravity of 2 or greater) before these particles can damage your system. Note: Silt, due to its mass (or lack thereof) would not be able to be filtered.

Self Cleaning Pump Suction

No matter the source of your irrigation water, you need to clear the water of trash and debris that could block flow, damage the pump station or clog irrigation equipment. Rain Bird’s galvanized, Self-Cleaning Pump Suction Screen removes large trash and debris from water sources, saving time and money in energy, pumping efficiency and maintenance costs. With a heavy 12 or 30 mesh stainless steel screen, this model will increase your pump efficiency for many years to come.

BSF Automatic Backwash Screen Filters

Rain Bird’s Automatic Backwashing Screen Filter provides worry free high-flow rate 250 micron (standard) filtered water quality. Powered by source line water pressure, the filter’s patented backwashing valve system produces a reverse flow to flush the system of entrapped contaminants. During the brief backwashing cycle, a portion of the clean water produced by the system is diverted to the filter unit undergoing backwashing. This reverse flow of filtered water frees contaminants from the wedge-wire filter screens. Each filter canister is sequentially backwashed until the entire system is cleaned, allowing irrigation continue through the backwash cycle. Models are available as a filter unit only, or as a filter assembly including bypass plumbing and valves for fast and easy installation on site.

I-Series Hydraulic Suction Scanning Screen Filters

Rain Bird’s “I-Series” Hydraulic Suction Scanning Screen Filter provides worry free high-flow rate 300 micron (standard) filtered water quality. Powered by source line water pressure, the filter’s backwashing system produces a concentrated high velocity reverse water flow to systematically clean the mesh screen of any entrapped contaminants. Models are available as a filter unit only, or as a filter assembly including bypass plumbing and valves for fast and easy installation on site.

G-Series Hydraulic Suction Scanning Screen Filters

Rain Bird’s “G-Series” Hydraulic Suction Scanning Screen Filter provides worry free medium-flow rate 300 micron (standard) filtered water quality. Powered by source line water pressure, the filter’s backwashing system produces a concentrated high velocity and low volume reverse water flow to systematically clean the screen of any entrapped contaminants. Models are available as a filter unit only, or as a filter assembly including bypass plumbing and valves for fast and easy installation on site.

E-Series Electric Suction Scanning Screen Filters

Rain Bird’s “E-Series” Suction Scanning Screen Filter provides worry free high-flow rate 300 micron (standard) filtered water quality. Powered by source line water pressure and an electrical drive motor, the filter’s backwash system produces a concentrated high velocity reverse water flow to precisely clean the screen of any entrapped contaminants. Unique to this design, Rain Bird has eliminated potentially troublesome limit switches (for reversing the drive mechanism) and implemented a reversing mechanism that is simple and higher in reliability than other units on the market today. Models are available as a filter unit only, or as a filter assembly including bypass plumbing and valves for fast and easy installation on site.
